After a last concert together in 1990 at a »Free&Outdoor« festival near Porta-Westfalica, Andreas Schwienhorst and Wolfgang Aulke lost sight of each other. Professional paths led Wolfgang Aulke to Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein, Andreas Schwienhorst worked alternately in Göttingen, Jena, Venezuela, Boston, in short: abroad.
In 2010, the two met again by chance. Wolfgang visited Andreas at the Salzhaff, the pianist's new home, and the first session ended in the early morning. It was as if no time had passed. Blind musical understanding, joint exploration of the traditions of jazz and rhythm & blues, lively interpretations of tango and bossa nova compositions, spontaneous reworkings of classical pieces – everything was right.
The decision to develop and perform programs as a duo came naturally. »seesalzjazz« was born. To this day, both musicians work together and give concerts.
